Jake is in his final year and is a valuable member of the team.
Always a friendly face around the Forge and upon visits he has a passion for shoe making and and enjoys meeting the different variety of horses and ponies daily.
Jake wanted to become a farrier as he has a passion for animals. From equine to canine alike it seems Jake has what we call "Animal Magnetism" - it is evident with the many different horses and ponies, dogs and cats we encounter, they simply love him!
An animal whisperer in the making as well as a farrier perhaps - who knows!!!
Jake also enjoys competitions and can be seen at the annual farriery competitions along with the rest of the team.
Not many people know that Andrew has ridden since he was young, he has also been caring for horses and ponies feet for longer than he would like to remember!

Each customer is guaranteed an individual and professional service to ensure you have your horse or ponies feet supported by the best in the business.
Andrew is an AWCF, Master Farrier and is working towards his fellowship. This means his spare time is spent absorbing more information and ideas to further equip him to give the best advice around and be able to provide customers with the latest theories available.
Andrew has an excellent team he is very proud of. While Andrew has seen his prodigy return to their home turf and practice as newly qualified farriers, he continues to develop further apprentices helping them to pursue their careers and develop their skills while teaching the methods of first class farriery.
Continuing professional development (CPD) is of paramount importance to Andrew which is why he attends along with his team educational courses to ensure he is aware of the latest reasearch so he can pass this onto his clients.
In Andrew's spare time if he is not attending a local equine event to support those that support him, he is usually found with Karen and his labrador Muddler shooting, his second passion.
We are always on the look out for keen young apprentices! If you are interested in joining our team please do contact us and we can arrange a visit!
Quote from TOM HOLIDAY DIPWCF, currently residing and practising in the USA!
"I could not have asked for a better apprenticeship. Andrew was always more than willing to help with anything I needed. Even before I started my apprenticeship! I can safely say that I wound not be the farrier or person I am today without the opportunities and the experience given to me by him.
He would always push me to do better, never said no if I wanted to go to a competition or practice in the forge. Even after burning through all of the steel and fuel only ever asked for me to keep getting better.
Not only that Andrew is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to anatomy and shoeing theory, only having to ask to hear everything he knows. This helped me a tremendous amount making my college work and exams much more straightforward and easier to understand. I hold Andrew in the highest regard and would recommend anyone looking for the best apprenticeship possibly to contact Andrew."
